Biography

Kennedy Stewart is a 2-D artist from Cincinnati, Ohio that explores the overlap of her unique art style of heavy geometric forms and vibrant color with concepts such as Afrofuturism, intersectionality of race and gender, imagination, general documentation of experiences, and even dabbling in imagery that evokes feelings of horror inspired by her interest in psychology. Using various two-dimensional mediums such as photography, acrylic paint, oil pastels, and other added materials such as stickers, jewelry, a variety of types of paper, and more, she is able to create interesting and busy compositions full of layered elements in her collages, paintings, and photography. Stewart draws inspiration from her experience of being a black woman who is aiming to be released from the constructs of societal expectations and stereotypes, being a woman athlete, and her desire to see people of color engaging in futuristic themes such as sci-fi, technology, new fashion trends, and breaking free from generational trauma.
